What the data is

OpenBtoB has two kinds of data.

Shipment records. Company-level import and export records that show who trades a product, with whom and when. Every shipment number on a company page links to the records behind it.

Tariff data. The tariff books of Viet Nam, the United States, China and the European Union, with the duties and taxes on a route between them. Each duty row names its source.

When we do not hold a value, the page says so. A duty we cannot confirm for your goods shows as “may apply”, never as 0.

Coverage

Each source below shows the date its data runs through. Dates come from our data when this page was built; a date we could not read says when we checked.

What is not covered, by route

Each route lists what our data does not cover, as the lookup returns it on .

Viet Nam to the United States

  • Chapter 99: product scope is not loaded for Section 201 safeguards, the China maritime Section 301 action (from 2026-11-10) and other product-specific programs; they may apply to the goods they name.

  • Chapter 99: Section 301 on Brazil and Nicaragua and Section 338 on Canada are shown as may_apply, because their exemptions are not loaded.

  • Chapter 99: where a duty depends on the product description, end use, metal content or a certification, it is shown as may_apply, never as 0; content-based Section 232 values are not computed.

  • Special program rates and column 2 rates are not loaded (no program covers VN or CN goods).

  • AD/CVD flags cover orders on VN and CN goods only; the rate depends on the producer (check the order).

Viet Nam to China

  • Preferential rates are loaded for origin VN (ACFTA, RCEP) only; China's other agreements are not loaded.

  • Import VAT and consumption tax come from the China customs list 2026 (10-digit layer), not the tariff book.

  • The customs list states no consumption tax for this line.

  • US-origin goods: the further 24% retaliatory duty is suspended until 2026-11-10 13:01 (Beijing time) and is listed as a measure from that date; dates are UTC days, and a later notice extending the suspension needs a data update.

  • Trade remedies (anti-dumping, countervailing) are not loaded.

Viet Nam to Germany (EU)

  • VAT: the destination member state's standard rate is shown (EC TEDB, refreshed monthly). Reduced rates are listed only as 'a reduced rate may apply (category)': TEDB maps them to CN codes in part, and whether one applies depends on the product and national law. Excise is not loaded.

  • Origin-specific measures are loaded for VN, CN and US origin only; measure exclusions and conditions (certificates, entry prices) are shown as text or not at all.

  • Anti-dumping and countervailing duties are flags: the rate depends on the producer (TARIC additional code).

  • Tariff quotas are flags: the in-quota rate applies only while the quota is open.

  • EUDR and CBAM are flags (COMPLIANCE), not duties. An 'ex' code covers only part of the line: check the product against the regulation. Other EU product rules (SPS, REACH, the forced-labour ban) are not loaded.

Look up an HS code and a duty

  1. Open the HS lookup. Type a product in English, Vietnamese with diacritics or Chinese, or an HS code of 2 to 10 digits.

  2. If the answer says “Needs more detail”, pick the option that matches your goods.

  3. To see a country’s national lines, pick it under “Country (optional)”. With no country, the page shows the international 6-digit code.

  4. To see duties, choose “+ Add a route to see duties”, then pick where the goods come from (From) and where they are imported (To). The page shows the national lines on both sides and the duties and taxes of the importing country, each with its source.

  5. When a side has several national lines, pick yours. The duty rows follow the line you pick.

Looking for companies instead? Search shipment records by product, HS code or company name.

Limits

  • Vietnamese with diacritics. Search in Vietnamese works best with diacritics (“cà phê rang”). Without them (“ca phe rang”), results can miss the product.

  • Estimates. Every duty is an estimate, not legal advice: verify with a licensed customs broker. Duties that depend on the product’s exact description, end use or a certificate show as “may apply”.

  • Company pages without an account. Up to 60 company profiles and 120 search pages per hour from one network address. Signed-in accounts: 600 per hour.

  • MCP. 100 tool calls a day per free account, counted per UTC day.

  • CSV export. 100 rows in total on a free account, at most 1,000 rows per export.

  • Paid plans are not available yet.
